Antique Semi- Astrononomical English fusee wall clock with calendar, center sweep second Hand, and two subsidiary dials. SIZE: 20" x 15" x6" with 11" dial MAKER: Attributed to T.S. Winder, Kirkby- Lonsdale England DESCRIPTION: This is a very rare Semi-Astrononomical Regulator. Solid mahogany case that is dovetailed top and bottom, key locking bottom door for pendulum insertion, with key, there is a hinged door on the right side and the back of the case, no damage or repairs to the case. There are two tight shrinkage cracks which can not be photographed. The movement is a large chain fusee of a week duration. It has been professionally rebuilt and runs accurately. The clock is designed to run for 7 days. The mechanism is a large, very high-grade fusee, with maintaining power, over wind stop, offset escapment, center sweep true seconds, and calendar. The bottom subsidiary dial is for the hour and minutes. See additional photos. The brass bezel, iron enameled dial, hands, and fusee movement are original to the case. The heavy brass lead filled pendulum is also original. This was probably a tavern or pub clock where it was pegged between two wooden beams. Both sides of the case have four plugged holes from those pegs. The clock is a backwind and time set. The clock has run flawlessly for the years that I have owned it. I own a floor standing regulator by T.S. Winder and it's wheel work and pillar design are identical. I feel quite certain that he is the maker of this precision fusee. This is truly a rare clock at a reasonable price. 15 years ago one of these sold in the UK for 3500 pound sterling.
