Antique Fusee Pub Clock, 17" diameter, 100% original. Size: 17" diameter, 6" deep, 11" dial diameter minute track to minute track, 12" overall. Condition: 100% original and in pristine condition. No additional screw holes behind the dial or bezel. The large trapezoid fusee time piece movement is a week duration. It has been professionally rebuilt. All pivots resurfaced and polished, 4 new bronze bushings. The verge has been stoned and polished. A new brass cable has been installed. This was never a chain fusee. The clock runs accurately for a week. Original lead filled brass pendulum bob and Envar steel pendulum rod with new suspension spring(feather). The pendulum rod had a crutch pin slot cut in higher than the original with a a long suspension spring attached. After proper restoration of the escapment (keeping the original verge and escape wheel) the correct suspension was replaced allowing the crutch pin to ride in the original slot. The pendulum now has good amplitude. The original enameled iron dial is in excellent condition and has not been touched up. The brass bezel houses the original glass. The solid oak case retains its original finish. The finish was cleaned and 3 coats of cabinet wax applied. All joints are tight and the entire case is structurally sound. The back of the case has two hinged side access doors and one key-locking (with key) bottom access pendulum door. There are a few small pieces of veneer missing on either side of the pendulum access door. The clock also retains the original steel hands. This clock is larger that the standard Pub clock which is 15" in diameter. This clock is 17" in diameter. Judging from the large serialized trapezoid movement it is identical to several Elliot's I have owned. I feel quite confident to say it was made by Elliot of London. There are no negatives with this clock. It is an excellent value considering $895 is what this clock would sell for in pounds Sterling in London. The term "Pub Clock" refers to a public clock, a clock found in public places. All brass has been polished and sealed.
