Antique American Victorian wall clock, Winnipeg model, made by New Haven Clock Co. New Haven CT. Circa 1879
Pristine condition, 100% original, dated on the brass bezel "Feb. 11 1879". Size: 35" long, 4 1/2" deep, 12 1/2" wide at the top molding, 7 1/2" wide at the door, 10 1/4" wide at the base molding. The dial is 5 1/4" diameter, minute track to minute track, 6 1/2" diameter overall. Condition: Pristine, 100% original, not even one single screw has been changed. The week duration time piece movement is original to the case. It is held to the backboard with the two original mounting blocks. The movement has been professionally rebuilt. All new bronze bushings, all pivots resurfaced and polished, and the original verge has been stoned and polished. The old main spring was no longer serviceable and was replaced with a new one. The clock keeps accurate time with a strong pendulum amplitude. The original dial was no longer legible and needed restoration on the original dial pan. No extra screw holes anywhere. The original reverse painted glass is near mint and held in with the old wood strips. A few spots on the black backing have flaked off and they have been touched up. The solid walnut case was professionally refinished, four coats of finish applied and rubbed out between coats. Three coats of cabinet wax have also been applied. The case has a rich medium walnut color. The finish has a very warm deep luster, not a high gloss. We always use semi-gloss rubbed out to satin and waxed up to between semi and satin. All 6 finials are original, not damaged, they are perfect. The case is tight and sound, everything is original -- no new wood. This is a very difficult clock to find. Note the mint incised burl walnut panel at the base. All brass parts have been polished and sealed.
