Atkins Clock Co Shelf or Mantle Clock, Circa 1870. Shelf, mantle or cottage clock by Atkins Clock Co Bristol Conn. Mint 100% original. Size is 11" tall, 7 1/16" wide at the base, 3 1/2" deep. Condition: Mint original. The 30-hour time piece movement has been professionally rebuilt. All pivots resurfaced and polished, new bronze bushings, the verge has been stoned and polished, new main spring. The pendulum has a strong amplitude. Clock is an excellent timekeeper. The case is walnut and red pine. It retains an incredible original finish. The case was cleaned and three coats of cabinet wax have been applied. The case also retains the older style top and bottom door pivoting hinges, the original brass door latch, and both top and bottom glass are original. The bottom has acorn pattern in gold with black background is original and mint. There is an excellent interior original paper label. The original zinc dial appears to have been repainted some time ago. It was professionally done. There are no negatives with this rare maker.
