If this beautiful German 1/2 size wall clock had been initially exported to the United States, we would have been able to date it more closely. The McKinley Tarriff Act of 1891 required that all imports into the United States be marked with the name of the country of origin. That act was revised in 1914 to require..."MADE IN..." be added. However, this clock was purchased from a Canadian owner so the name of the country of origin is not marked on the case. However, it was clearly made in Germany's Black Forest clock-making region and I would estimate the date of manufacture to be sometime in the 1930's. Because of the visible pendulum swinging below the case, these are known as 'WAG-ON-THE-WALL' clocks. The high quality of the solid brass movement and the excellence of the hand-painted colorful wooden dial marks this as a really excellent clock which runs well and keeps good time. It will look lovely on any wall where the next owner hangs it. Height: 9 in. (22.86 cm) Depth: 4 in. (10.16 cm) Width: 6 in. (15.24 cm) Weight: 3
