Column and cornice triple decker shelf clock. The Forestville Manufacturing Company factory was founded by J. C. Brown, J. Goodrich, L. Walters, C. Boardman and W. Hills in Bristol, Connecticut. They specialized in the manufacture of eight-day movements. Although they used various labels in their clocks, the company finally became known as the FORESTVILLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY. Later, the assets were purchased by E.N. Welsh and the company finally became known as the Sessions Clock Company. This large regal example of their work retains its original hands, dial, eight-day movement (with strike on the hours), pendulum 'bob' and cast iron weights. The veneer is not only handsome with bold graining pattern but also tight and unbroken. The two reverse-painted door glasses were redone by Lee Davis in York, Pennsylvania...surely one of the "Masters" in the field. The label inside the clock is almost perfect and has been varnished over to preserve it indefinately. The strap brass eight-day movement was professionally, hand-cleaned and serviced to run perfectly, keeping good time and striking on the hours. The photos tell the story better than my words.
