Chauncey Jerome founded what was later known as the New Haven Clock Company. In 1816 the business was located in Plymouth, Connecticut. In 1822, they moved to Bristol, Ct. and later in 1845 to New Haven. Their clocks were always a considered to be a 'cut above the rest' as the old saying goes. This beauty was named 'GOTHIC' by the New Haven manufacturer and has a sharp gothic top (see photograph). It also displays a very attractive and colorful original door glass. There is a bit of flaking, but to my taste, it's not at all distracting. The clean brass movement operates the clock for eight-days, with a strike on the hours. There is a paper label inside the case with enough remaining to correctly determine the maker. Every component on this very nice clock is original--hands, dial, lower painted door glass, movement and case finish. What a really nice addition this will be to someone's desk, shelf or bookcase!
