Country Store 8-day Regulator SESSIONS CLOCK COMPANY No. 4.

There are clock collectors and there are advertising collectors and there are some who admire and collect both. Here we have these interests incorporated into one fine clock. The Sessions Clock Company of Forestville, Connecticut named this their 'ADVERTISING No. 4'. The clock's eight-day, time-only movement is clean and running perfectly..keeping good time. A small sticker on the inside floor of the case attests to the careful and regular servicing that this clock received from its former owners...who perhaps owned a hardware store in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania vacinity where the clock hung on the wall behind the cash register or in the front window to advertise the several businesses listed on the door glass of the clock. The little sticker inside the case lists a schedule for oiling and servicing the movement and it's obvious that they kept to this schedule through the past 72 years. The ads on the lower door glass are painted in reverse and are amazingly intact--no flaking at all! Names of four LANCASTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA businesses are shown (see photograph close-up): ELECTROL OIL BURNERS, LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA; S.H. LINDEMUTH HOUSE PAINTER and contractor; H.W. GREINER CONTRACTOR AND BUILDER-LANDISVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA and J.N. STAUFFER and BROTHER MASONRY CONTRACTORS. (See photograph for exact wording of these ads). We hope that someone from the Pennsylvania "Dutch" Country in Lancaster County might add this clock to his or her collection. Perhaps one of the mentioned businesses is still in existence and the current owners could proudly hang this historic reminder of "the old days" of their business activity. In any event, whoever purchases this nice clock will have a wonderful piece of early 1900's advertising. The label on the back of the clock (see photograph) is about 70% intact and has been protected with a plastic cover. (The white dots at the corners of that protector are thumb tacks). What a wonderful 'find' this was for us...and also for the next owner of the clock!! Height: 35 in. (88.90 cm) Depth: 6 in. (15.24 cm) Width: 18 in. (45.72 cm) Weight: 11
