8-day English gallery clock .
This massive English gallery clock features a wonderful, heavy brass movement with an eight-day fusee mechanism. The name 'fusee' refers to the method of regulating the speed of the clock involving a conical drum with a cable that unwinds as the clock runs onto another drum so that the power of the wound spring is equalized throughout the run of the clock. The brass inlay on the case of this clock is nothing less than awesome (see photograph). There is a small key-locked side door to access the mechanism. On the inside of this door is a printed card listing the manufacturers name and address: KING-Manufacturer 14 Berkley Street, Clerkenwell, London (see photograph). The measurement across the dial itself is 11" and across the brass dial bezel 13". The convex door glass is unbroken and the movement has been professionally cleaned and adjusted for good operation. This is simply a wonderfully impressive and high quality timepiece. Height: 17 in. (43.18 cm) Depth: 6 in. (15.24 cm) Width: 17 in. (43.18 cm) Weight: 14
