The half columns have carved capitals and bases, and some carving is on the base. The top is not original to the case but it certainly doesn't detract in any way. The finials are always questionable to me even if they are 100 years old. In the restoration process the brass was all polished, weights, pendulum bob, pulleys, and dial rings. The porcelain beat scale and the 2 piece porcelain dial, are all perfect, clean and shining. The movement is 8 day, signed and serial number inscribed No. 306052, which dates the clock Ca 1882. The movement has been cleaned and put in perfect running order. It strikes hours and half hours on a coil gong. This is a living room clock.
