It includes a ferris wheel series of paddles to move a group of 2 inch ball bearings from the top of the clock to the drawer in the base, simultaneously powering the clock. It stands 22 inchs high, is gold plated and weighs 50 pounds including the ball bearings. It has a porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and floral paintings. There is a visible escapement just under the number "12". The clock also has a barometer and thermometer. To run the clock you place 15 very large ball bearings into the top "tray", under the Lion, in the designated channels, and they line up to work their way down the ferris wheel to propel the clock, and finally end up in the drawer in the bottom. The ferris wheel revolving shelves have a diameter of 7in inside the case. To access the balls on the top, simply lift up the lion. Once each day I take two or three of the balls out of the drawer and return them to the top. We had the clock checked out to make sure it runs properly, but you may need to regulate the time. I have had one on my desk for several months.
