French Ormolu and Sculpture mantle clock was made in the mid-1800's and is stupendous in every detail. The height is an impressive 26 inches and the width is 24 inches. The base was very artistically created with numerous flowing scroll designs from solid brass, coated with golden ormolu colored coating. The flowing designs sweep downward creating the front legs of the massive clock. The back of the base is supported by two pillared legs with round circular caps at the ends. Mounted on top is a fabulous 16 inches tall sculpture of a Spanish Conquistador with lance in one hand and the reins of his rearing stallion in the other. The porcelain dial is in 2 pieces, brass rings and sash has a thick beveled glass, plus the open escapement has red ruby pallets. The 8-day movement is typical French, with an outside count wheel, bell strike, and signed "Vincenti and Cie Medaille D'Argent". The bell has a trademark inscribed inside which is rarely seen. The clock is running and striking half hours and hours, as intended. Like the clock above, we have also had this one a long time. It came from an estate and had been with that family for many years where it enjoyed a prominent place in their home. We seldom see clocks of this magnitude.
