Tall clock wood movement and dial, by Riley Whiting, mounted on the original seat board and with 2 old tin can weights.

23 October 2024
Riley Whiting had his own way to trademark his dials. It was the way the winding arbors were painted on the wood dial. The 89 inches high wood case made in later years was painted green, so if you like green clocks this one will suit you fine. Most connoisseurs of early clocks would probably strip it down and make it look somewhat early. The pendulum is not correct and there is no pendulum rod. The wood movement is in very good condition, has no broken teeth or evidence of having had any problems. Several articles in the Bulletin's describes the research on early 30 hour tall clock movements and reveals the slight differences among the many makers of this type clock. You have a head start here with a very nice old movement.
