It is 35 inches high, 20 inches wide, tapered steeple roof with scalloped trim underneath. The base is tapered, English style. There is a locking, removable door in that base. There are large locking side doors that allow easy access to the inside. All of the locks have keys. Mahogany case has the original finish, no repairs, patches, etc., great burl designs in the old wood. Movement is 8 day with thick, solid plates, 8 inches by 7.5 inches, with the rack of 8 bells and hammers on top. The bells play 8 notes the first quarter, 16 the second, etc., and strikes the hours on a large coil iron gong. The painted iron dial is 14 inches and has the original paint. The bezel and glass are also large, and heavy. Very unusual old clock, ca around 1860. The movement has been serviced and is operating as designed.
