Ansonia Clock Company, metal cased "Imperial", ca 1904.

23 October 2024
Retains practically all of the original Rich Gold finish, and like most of the Ansonia clocks in these collections it is large at 21.25 inches high, and has many attached ornaments and a lot of detail in the original castings. There is an angry looking Lion at the top and a mean God of something on the base. Note the paw feet and the twist columns and top finial. The dial parts are what make the clocks in these collections far above average. This one has a cartouche dial and a very ornate inner dial all of which is an addition to the open escapement. Heavy beveled glass and French sash. Signed 8 day movement, rack strike, hour and half hour on a gong. If there is one better I would like to see it. Ly-Ansonia No. 1525.
