This unusual large carved case depicts two blood hounds and a musket. We sold a similar clock "The Music Men" in our January 2204 auction, No. 196, for just over $3500. We have also seen one called "The Pilgrims". It was in bad condition and in 1998 sold for $2500. These carved clocks are very rare and we have only seen a half dozen in our 30 years of selling. Movement is 8 day, ladder chain with two weights, the same movement and weights Waterbury used on many of their wall clocks. It is in running condition but could use service. The hands, numerals, and ladder chains are original, pendulum is not correct but original pendulums are not hard to find. The polished weights, in like new condition, are identical to those found on other Waterbury clocks. The large carved oak case is in nice condition with only minor scrapes you might expect on a large case that is very awkward to hang and carry. No breaks or repairs to any of the carvings. It is 28 inches wide and 23 inches high.
