Very rare Ansonia Clock Company mantle clock-metal case, "Superba And La Source", ca 1904.
We monitor many clock auctions for available clocks and their selling prices but we have yet to see this model available at any auction. Ansonia made this statue and base in many different colors. Bruce Baziluk chose French Bronze when he restored the metal on this clock, and he says it is one of the best looking old Ansonia finishes he has done. French Bronze is dark green on the high spots with a dark brown base coat. He says you can lighten the finish if you choose. The inlay is Brazilian Onyx, green with white and light brown veins. These two pieces together are 28 inches high, 15 inches wide. The porcelain dial, hands, beveled glass, Rocco Sash, back door, and pendulum, are all correct and perfect. As usual the 8 day movement is signed, strikes a gong on half hours and hours, and running properly. Ly-Ansonia No. 1476.
