Broken arch case is 88 inches high, no evidence of ever having finials, full turned columns on the bonnet, fluted or rolled side trim on the sides of the body, beveled edges on the base. Considered a "northern" case by its design and woodwork. The case has been refinished, new wood supports and possibly the base added during the refurbishing. The flame mahogany wood was polished and shines like an antique piece of furniture should. Original key locking door, with a key. Old glass and putty in the top door. The rolling moon "white dial" is also ca 1820-1840. Size is 13 inches wide, 18.5 inches high. Dial makers' signature in script unknown to me, looks like, "Wycock Waterfall". Cast iron dial plate signed, "S. Baker, Birmingham". Figures painted and signed around the outside of the dial, are," St.Matthew, St.Peter, St.Paul, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John". In the center is signed, "Saul and David". Hands are original, second hand may not be. Movement is typical 8 day, bell strike, running. Period or old iron weights and pendulum.
