Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, Conn., ca 1845.
Empire flat molding case, a seldom found model. He used it for spring, weight, and fusee movements. This movement is a 30 hour, seat board mounted, OG type, powered by two weights. The movement and label are both signed, "Chauncey Jerome, New Haven". Wood dial retains most all paint, some tiny pinpoint flakes. Old tablet has minor paint loss, less than 10% loss of the label, original hands, and period weights. Crotch grained mahogany veneer case in good original condition; has some small chips on the base; stands about 24 inches high. Movement is clean and in running order, should only need to put it in beat and adjust the strike levers. Reference: "From Rags to Riches to Rags, The Story of Chauncey Jerome", by Chris H. Bailey. Bulletin Supplement No. 15. This clock came from the late Paul Heffner's collection.
