Beautiful carved cartel case, housing a clock and barometer that uses the same shaft.
8 day balance movement acts as if it wants to run but is too full of horse feathers and accumpucky. I believe a cleaning in the ultrasonic will be all it needs. The movement plate and movement housing are signed, "Richard A. Paris". They were a Paris, France company founded in 1848. There are also other inscriptions on the housing that I cannot read. The barometer is different from any we see. I hope that you can tell from the side picture how it functions. If not ask me for a digital photo that you can enlarge. Two piece porcelain dial, outer ring with a couple of chips and some hairlines. It can be repaired. The outer dial is signed, "Universal Exhibition London 1851", and "Exhibition Gold Metal 1849, Bourdon and Richards Patent Paris". Heavy bezel is hinged and holding a think beveled glass. We believe the wood case has original gold gilt on it, if not; it certainly is very old gilt. It is 20 inches high and 14 inches wide. There are four heavy-duty hangers on the back.
