The strong running 8 day movement strikes the hours on a large bell on top of the clock, then repeats them again at two minutes after the hour, and once on the half hour. The two-minute interval was for silent prayer, which was common in those days. Excellent bowed porcelain dial is signed, "Bouilhet, a la Clayette". Numerals are recessed and filled with black paint. Brass hands are original, folding pendulum may well be, the clock runs fine with it. Weights are modern iron replacements. The brass dial surround is in generally very good condition, shows a scene of two boys working in a garden. Large wooden wall hanging bracket was built especially to accommodate this clock.
