Execellent label. Rosewood sculptured and molded gallery octagon case, which is either original finish, poorly done; or restored with very light coat of varnish. The veneer is intact. It begins as a 7 inches wide octagon at the rear and tapers to the front bezel. Original painted, 4.5 inches metal dial which previous owner "Improved" by cutting out the center to expose the unusual movement which otherwise would not be visible, as in Jerome's paper mache and Paris models. Good or bad "addition" or "subtraction" depending on your perspective. Some touchup to the dial. Botsford had an interesting career, having been associated with Chauncey Jerome, P.T.Barnum, and other early clockmakers. The best information I could find about Botsford is in the article, "The Connecticut Marines", in the October 1989 NAWCC Bulletin.
