Steeple shelf clock, "E. and A. Ingraham, Bristol, Conn.", ca 1852. Brothers Elias and Andrew formed their company when the firm of Brewster and Ingrahams dissolved.
This one day ribbed movement is signed "Brewster and Ingrahams", meaning they continued to use movements and cases of the previous firm. This clock is identical to the BandI's early steeple clocks. The click needs some attention on the strike side and that spring may be broken. Strikes on a coil gong; excellent full label inside the case; original zinc dial has been repainted; frosted glass may be a replacement but it looks identical to those in the early BandI clocks. Top glass is original; 20 inches mahogany veneer case is very good for 150 years old, just a few small veneer tic's. The movement mounting blocks leave a little to be desired. You will need to address those. Ly-Ingraham, page 74-77. Pictures of clock, movement, and history of the company.
