C.1974 (dated) George Dorne's Clepsydra, No. 9, marble base with bronze uprights and brass cylinder with plexi-glass partitions, the blue liquid and the force of gravity on the incline providing the motive force.

Condition: This item is virtually like new, but is not running. However the workmanship is excellent, and with a plaque from the maker and serial No. 9. As the cylinder rolls slowly down the incline, it turns a brass dial with Roman numerals, the time indicated by a pointer in front. A well made conversation piece. Like all items in the Mather consignment, there is no reserve, and we struggled to estimate this, giving consideration to the cost for someone to duplicate this from first class materials.
