Condition: the case is missing the top carving that is illustrated in Ly's calendar book, figure 64. The dial pan and paper dial is new. The tablet has been repainted black, needs gold border. The 8-day Hubbell double spring movement, as illustrated by Ly, and also by Andrew Miller on page 56 of his book, is complete and sound and ticking reliably and tripping the calendar. The calendar is advanced by a small spring that is wound once per year, through the right side of the case. Calendar rollers are released by an upside-down verge that is tripped once per day by the time movement. The day-of-week roller and date ribbon on this clock are original and in exceptional condition. In pristine condition, these bring $5,000; see also next lot. Height 17 inches
