C.1836, E. W. Adams, 8-day time/strike column and cornice shelf clock.
Condition - Refinished mahogany veneered case in nice condition with a new top cornice that is properly made, using an original as a guide. There are some veneer chips on the base in a couple of places (not too noticeable). Mirror above the dial is original, but has a section missing. The dial glass is old, replaced maybe 50 years ago, with a vertical score mark. Middle glass is original, but cracked. Bottom door and mirror are replacements. The case probably had carved paw feet that are now missing. Original and very decorative dial is in very nice condition with some fading of the numbers and the chapter ring. The strap brass movement is original to the case. Label is an over-paste of an original Marshall and Adams label signifying the breakup of the pair in 1836. A picture of this case can be found in "An Empire in Time, Clock and Clock makers of upstate New York" by Russ Oechsle and Helen Boyce, page 83. Height 37.5 inches
