Condition: Someone has brushed over the entire case with gold paint. The bell standard has been replaced. Otherwise, the heavy movement is of exceptional quality with large baluster style pillars and giant ratchet wheels on the rear plate, typical of this era. The porcelain dial attaches to the dial plate with small screws, and other than some minor chips at those attachment points, the dial is excellent. A dust cover is held onto the rear of the case by 3 turn screws, a metal screen replacing the original silk. The pendulum is a composite, made of 2 French bobs with a new wire attached; the original would likely have been repousse brass and very light, although the clock will tick with this. It is very uncommon to find 8 day clocks from this period in Austria, and we feel this deserves a proper Viennese restoration. Height 27 inches
