Condition: the case has been refinished, has some nicks and scrapes, veneer chip base lower right, lower left and peak. One might think at first that J. C. Brown had died at this time, however Elisha Welch took over the Brown business in 1855, and Brown did not die until 1872. In 1864 as Welch acquired more companies, the organization (and labels) changed to E. N. Welch Manufacturing. In any case, this is an earlier steeple clock with original dial (with margin losses), label (with lower water stain), bell, gong and alarm mechanism. Original frosted heart shaped tablet with wear. Height 20 inches
