Condition: the lady's great toe is broken away and there is loss of gilding on the frieze where it was splattered with something. Otherwise it is in excellent condition, with fine detail on the lady's face and gown, as well as the dolphin and geese. The well made bell strike, silk thread movement bears only 3 initials: 'ACD'. Pendulum is absent, minute hand soldered, small dent in base. Neptune was in love with Amphitrite who refused his advances. Undaunted, Neptune sent one of his servants, a dolphin, to look for her. The dolphin found her and persuaded her to change her mind, and Neptune with Amphitrite have ruled the waves together ever since. For two very similar models of this clock, see Catalogo de Relojes del Patriminio Nacional Pages 279 and 314. Width 16.5 inches, height 21 inches
