Condition: overall excellent original condition; except for some minor scratches on the mahogany box, it looks nearly new. The assembly record indicates this timepiece was finished in 1943. As near as we can tell, the dials and plate sets were made up and serialized at the time of the original Navy contract in 1941. After extensive set up, refinement of tooling and testing, the first chronometers were actually produced in 1943. Balance staff is intact; it is retained with original metal holder and screw; please do not undo during preview. Also included a photocopy of 1945 instruction manual. Height of outer box 10 inches, inner box 7.5 inches
