C.1850, French, Lenoir, Ormolu Figural Clock with 6 Figures and 3 Sevres type plaques, all gilt with prolific scrolls and swags, 8-day time and bell strike, silk thread suspension.
Condition: Overall excellent condition; there are some spots on the gilding where something splashed on it and was allowed to dry. The crystal is not affixed to the bezel at this time (note bezel is a twist on..be careful). The case is surmounted by two angels watching over two children at play, and flanking the case are two likeness of Puck, half boy and half goat. The central plaque is a hand painting of a young couple with their dog in the park. The dial and movement are signed Lenoir. We found a page 110 of an old Sotheby's International price guide (1989-90 Edition) tucked into the back, showing that the cousin to this clock sold at Sotheby's, London, on 27 January, 1988 for 2860 Pounds Sterling.
