Condition: this clock has sat for a time, and all we did was dust it for the foto; it really looks as good as the foto, with superior yellow gilding. The silvered dial is tarnished. The well made movement would benefit from service; it uses a suspension spring, and with the initials FC and numbers. The first pediment of the clock has 3 winged cherubs, the left with a primitive tied rush boat spilling a horn of plenty, the center with a bucket of maps and equestrian items, flags and a primitive axe, and the right with Indian jars and jugs. When Spain surrendered to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809, he placed his brother Joseph at the head of the Spanish government. Suddenly there was no organized flow of command to Spain's possessions in the Americas, and in 1810, insurgents began their quest for independence.
