Condition: the movement would benefit from service. The dial has loss of porcelain neat 10, below 6 and at the winding holes; the minute hand is incorrect. The case is very good with much of the original gilding intact, Hercules' garment well chased with fine detail, and his facial features outstanding For an example of this clock, see FRENCH BRONZE CLOCKS, (Schiffer, 1999), FIGURE No. 89. Hercules is the most famous hero of antiquity, here depicted in a contemplative mood. "All elements point toward the heroic deeds which Hercules has already performed: the lion's skin, which is draped around the muscular body, is from the Nemean lion, which he killed with his bare hands. In his left hand he holds one of the golden apples of the Hesperides, which he collected with great difficulty" (words complements of E. Niehuser, from book above) Height 19 inches
