These timepieces were made and offered as souvenirs to mark the 400 year anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. We continue to receive phone calls from ladies who ask us "How do you know the clock is not 400 years old??" Condition: Movement is in nice condition with just a small ding on the left side. This timepiece still has its original acorn weights on the foliot escapement arm, and the iron weight to run the movement. The foliot arm has been repaired. Nice example. These were sold by the thousands at the Columbian Exposition in 1892-93. Ht 14" [35.5 cm]
