C.1924, Herschede Hall Clock Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, Pattern 222, Georgian, 13 tube, quarter chiming tall clock, in mahogany, single tune, 3-weight.
Condition: the clock has been idle for a while and will need service. There is minor oxidation around the edge of the dial plate; there is some light rust on the chime arms and leaf springs, and some arbors; movement dusty and dirty. The rolling moon is flaking and will need re-finishing. The case is in nice condition with original finish intact. Has beveled glass to the sides and over the dial, lower front glass is flat with mahogany side trim. Retains original and rare 13 tube movement, with Herschede crown trademark on the rear of the movement, serial 18000C, playing only a single tune which we can not identify. Having never seen one, we are unable to vouch for the originality of the tubes, 5 of which are large and heavy and nickel plated, and the 8 remaining with natural brass finish and the smaller diameter; we do know these tubes have been with the clock a long while. The pin drum and 12 hammers are straight, and the tubes hang in two rows, staggered, half on studs at the rear of the heavy iron support, and other half on the front. At 96.5", you will need just over 8 feet to accommodate this clock.
