Condition: Refinished mahogany case with a one-piece backboard in nice condition with extra nails in the bottom box in a attempt to repair the glue failures. The bottom of the box has been replaced as a result of a broken cable. Bottom tablet appears to be original, although it has been out of the door. Throat door and glass appear to be a later replacement, but very nicely done. Side arms are fastened to the case with pins through the center diamond. Original dial has the remains of a Willard signature that was left after someone cleaned the dial, but left the signature area alone (note signature area is darker). The numbers on the dial are worn and faded in areas. Original movement is fastened to the backboard with one screw through the backplate, typical of this maker (and later his apprentice E. Howard). Nice pair of original barbed hands. Finial is old with dents to the bowl. Lead weight is not original. Pendulum is old and probably original with an original tie down with the locking cap missing. Old repair sticker from Lynn, Mass. Ht 35" [88.9 cm]
