C.1690, Paris, Baltazar Martinot, nice early movement and dial, now in a later oak carcass case with ebonized veneer, and with a key lock front door.

Condition: The silk thread movement is ticking and striking; and is in remarkable condition for its age; see makers name clearly engraved into the lower section of the rear plate. The case origin and age are unknown, certainly severe in style as you might find in such an early piece, but with few indications of age. Martinot was one of the first French makers to apply the inventions of Christian Huygens. We based our estimate on the value of the movement and dial. Ht 20" [51cm]
