C.1850, Brewster and Ingrahams, Bristol, Conn, 8-Day Beehive, in a mahogany case.
Anonymous (not verified)
22 October 2024
Condition: The crotch mahogany veneer case was nicely refinished some time ago, and with good patination since. There are a couple of minor veneer chips that only show on close inspection, and a 3 inch repair along the back edge of the top. Has a good B and I, smooth plate, steel spring movement. Still has original ivory escutcheon for door key. Careful examination reveals that the cut glass tablet is a reproduction, stained on the reverse to give the impression of age; there are no defects (which one would expect) in the glass itself (see original top glass for comparison). Original painted dial has a faint signature showing, and the full label is nice. Ht 19" [63cm]
