C.1840, Henry C. Smith, Plymouth, Conn, 30-hour time/strike/alarm OG shelf clock (3-weight).
Anonymous (not verified)
22 October 2024
Condition: Refinished mahogany veneered case in fair to good condition with some veneer chips on the top edge, veneer repair on the bottom and loss to the veneered sides. Original dial has some loss around the alarm winding arbor and some in-painting. Escape wheel on the movement has been replaced. Hands are a little different, but probably original. Interesting fact about this clock is the label was block set and printed backwards and rather than throw them away they used them; label does have stains and is separating from the case back. We imagine the young man that set the blocks was fired later that day. Ht 26.5" [67.3 cm]
