C.1840, Birge, Mallory and Co., Bristol, Conn., 8-day time/strike triple-decker shelf clock. Condition: Mahogany veneered case in good condition with original finish. There is some chipped veneer on the base and the block just above the right bottom column. Bottom tablet is a replacement and the flat wood border surrounding the tablet has been replaced. Center mirror is original. Original painted dial is in good condition with a couple of small flakes, but has darkened. Hands are original. Columns show wear to the graining and gilt areas. Plaster top has some cracks but is in otherwise good condition for its age. Feet are original. One top side return is missing (another inside case that can be cut to fit). Good label inside case. Heavy strap brass movement is signed BM and Co. Height 38.5 inches [98 cm]
