C.1840, French, Carved Alabaster Clock, in the Empire style, 8-day, silk thread suspension, and bell strike. Condition: although several of the flowers have petals chipped, and the side flowers are missing, and the left arm to the top urn is broken [taped in place for foto], this is still well above average for what we usually find in this style clock case. The white alabaster is soft, making it easy to carve in fine detail, but that same softness makes it quite fragile. The well made bell strike movement is complete and sound and with pendulum. Total ht with urn = 20", ht without urn if you choose 14.5" [37cm]
