C.1832, Birge and Ives, Bristol, Conn, a carved 1/2 column triple deck in excellent original condition,
except the finish restored. Has a great original tablet of a large Greek influence building, super carving on the columns and eagle splat (columns and splat retain old finish, while the veneers refinished), mirror is original and dial is great with original gilding not just intact but immaculate. Weights and pendulum original; good label. Note small holes in chimney tops can be filled; (wrong finials have been removed) The wire from the window shade dial mirror up through the top is absent, easy to replace. Movement is the large Joseph Ives model with pie shape cut outs in the wheels; see Ken Robert's book on Ives, page 129. This very clock sold in our April, 2003 sale, lot 513, for $3600 because 2 gentlemen were determined to take it home. Height 36 inches
