C.1920, German, likely W+H for Max Busse, 3-Fusee, 8-Bell and 5-gong bracket clock, playing your choice of chime tune on the quarter hour, for the English market.

Condition: the case has been nicely re-finished to a mahogany color. 3 of the top finials have been re-cast from one original; right hand center door trim re-cast from left. The large and robust fusee movement is marked with the initials MB at the bottom of the rear plate, however Busse was a distributor in Berlin, and not a manufacturer, so it is likely that Winterhalder simply marked the movement to please him. The entire clock is identical to other Winterhalders that we have sold. The movement is clean and running and belting out the Whittington tune crisply on the original set of 8 tuned bells. Pendulum rod original, bob replaced. Most of the ormolu retains bright original gilding. Imposing. Height 27 inches [69cm]
