Condition: the glass dome is a replacement and the glass dial repainted [on reverse] at some time, otherwise this clock is in excellent original condition, mechanically complete and sound. It has a sticker from Sothebyis dated Dec 18, 1986, lot 235, however we were unable to find a copy of that catalog. The most complete reference we fiind on this rare clock is in 150 Years of Electrical Horology, published by Nawcc Chapter 125 in 1992, page 48. Only about 300 were produced, as the clock was expensive and not well accepted. The large 5 inch balance wheel is impulsed loudly by an electromagnet and continues to rotate back and forth until the amplitude drops, a Hipp style toggle closes a circuit, and the balance is impulsed again. Reason Manufacturing, Ltd, was a substantial firm, and you can find odd electrical equipment made by them on the internet. The last sale of this model clock was at Cottoneis in New York, on Oct 20, 2007, lot 134, realizing $11,550. Ht of clock on base 12.5", overall with dome 14.5"
