Condition: overall very good+ original condition; some minor dry splits to the veneer on front door and case top. This clock stood on the sideboard of Mr. Blackwell's dining room for over 3 decades. Although it has not been cleaned in a while, it is still belting out a brisk rendition of either Westminster Chimes [why it needs the 9th bell] or Whittington peal on 8 bells. The arched brass dial has gilt floral spandrels and subsidiary dials in the arch for Chime/Silent or choice of tune. The rear plate of the movement, and the pendulum bob are nicely decorated with floral engraving. The corner caryatids are classic Egyptian winged male figures, and each top corner with a flame finial of gilt brass. Both doors are key locking and with keys. Height 18.3 inches
