Condition: the detent movement is in excellent original condition, clean and running. Has original gold hands and well engraved dial The Bond family specialized in chronometers and watches, although the odd regulator has been seen. The firm lasted from 1841-70, operating at 26 Congress St through 1852 and at 17 Congress after. Through 1848 as Wm. Bond and Son [singular], and after 1868. This well made box saw steady service through 1983, and with rating stickers from Negus Nautical in NY, Holmes Navigation School, Mobile, AL, and Baker, Lyman and Co., Houston (3-19-83), older stickers underneath, and an external cartouche from H. G. Blair, Bristol.. See also next not. Width of box 7", ht of box 6.5" [as shown]
