C.1770, Dutch, T. Samuel Aubin, Rotterdam, 3-train musical tall clock with Dutch striking, movement now with a later pin-drum in a different plane.
Condition: the original bell set and left-to-right pin drum appear to have been lost and replaced with a front-to-back pin drum and a 10-bell set with its 16-hammers. (several vacant holes at the top of the plates). The tunes engraved on the dial are not the tunes played. A hole and dust cover have been added to the back-board, to allow space for the pin drum. The rolling moon dial shows the date in a top aperture, and the day and reigning deity of the day above 6, the makers name and city engraved on silvered crescents to the right and left of the day. Small dials control Slaan and Niet Slaan, and to the right, Speleen and Niet Speleen. Global hemispheres seem to be lacking for the moon, as there are vacant attaching holes [replacements can be ordered from Goodacre Engraving in England], and there are 2 very small bits of cast spandrel lacking top left and right. As in many clocks of this age, weights have been through the bottom of the case. Angelic trumpeters and Atlas are not period. An original clock of this vintage would fetch around $70,000. Height 110 inches
