23 October 2024
Condition: the mahogany case is in generally good condition, with some restorations. The case is refinished, and the pad feet are new, reeded columns on the hood have some damage at their tops. Center trim between the broken arches is absent. The movement appears to have been cleaned recently and is ticking and striking. Locking front door with key. The brass dial has gilt corner spandrels, the maker's name above the moon dial, and the slogan: "TIME IS VALUABLE" engraved on silvered banners across the 2 hemispheres. Dial was wrapped in plastic after re-silvering, and has odd pattern tarnish. Aspinwall is listed in Britten's list of clockmakers. Height 92.5 inches
