James Young, Perth Mahogany Tall Case Clock, ca 1800, Perth Mahogany Tall Case Clock, ca 1800, silvered brass dial signed Jas. Young/Perth with Roman on chapter ring, outer minute ring marked with ticks, 5-minute intervals with triangle, seconds dial above center with Arabic every 10 seconds and small windowed dial below center with day of the month in Arabic, spandrels with engraved scroll work terminating with Phoenix head, arch top with Strike/Silent dial, flanked by engraved mythical seahorses, brass English bell-strike-type 8-day time and strike weight driven movement. Mahogany case with arched top door, bracket base, bonnet with full fluted columns flanking door with pierced frieze above and flat top, old, if not original, finish, with weights, pendulum and key, 12" x 23" x 86.75" high. Condition report Some wear to silvering on dial, currently running intermittently.
