Fine French Gavelle L Aine' Marble Figural Clock, enameled domed dial marked as above and A Paris, with Arabic on chapter ring in black, outer minute ring marked with gold dots and red Arabic every 5 minutes on exterior of ring, cast and gilt bronze bezel with olive leaves and fruit, 8-day time and strike spring driven brass movement with rear bronze and glass door, carved and polished marble case with figure of seated young lady in dress and robe decorated with relief carved fleur-de-lis, holding an oval bust relief portrait of King Louis XVI atop an oval chest into which the dial is set, flanked by a putti in draped robe reaching for the portrait of the king, raised panel along front base with applied gilt ormolu entwined olive leaves with fruit, matching bezel and set on 4 cast bronze gilt feet with matching olive leaf decoration, 6" x 16" x 15.5" high (Loomes, 2006: 458).
